Talking Turkey

I had a great catchup with a friend who has just come back from Turkey.
Here's the pendant she brought back - the symbol of Istanbul*.

  1. This beautiful pendant design is known as the "Hamsa" or Hand of Fatimah and is often worn to ward off the "evil eye". It is very common in Islamic countries but is also a common symbol in Judaism too where it known as the "Hamesh" or Hand of Miriam. The one shown here is a lovely example of the fine filigree work.
