I stopped in at the Curtin Shops in Canberra because someone was telling me about this amazing bookshop, and became lost for words - so I had to check it out for myself. It shares the same entry as the Greater Indian and International Restaurant.
Once you descend the stairs and enter the doors you are overwhelmed. There are shelves and books everywhere. They're secondhand books in good condition, and neatly organised. But there's more to the place than books - there are ceramics near the books on ceramics
vintage cameras near the books on photography
and this wasn't too far from the books on craft and sewing
plus there were little nooks for sitting and reading.
As well as books, the place has a cafe and has music on weekends.
