A couple of days ago I photographed a Kanga with a jumper - now its mate also has a warm covering thanks to the guerilla knitters

Monday in Brisbane
Nothing cheers me up like quirky sights such as this!!
His mate that used to lie on the seat has gone - perhaps hibernating for the winter.
At work I saw heaps of art on the wall, such as this

Guerilla Knitting
On my way into town yesterday I saw this piece of knitting on one of the uprights on the Victoria Bridge
At lunch the talk was all about guerilla knitting - check out these images! On my way back to the car, I saw more: Mr Backpacking Reindeer is wearing a sweater!

Another Scarf
This is the softest chenille-like scarf - so nice to wear. I bought the yarn in Canberra - and I've FINISHED it! I have enough yarn to make a second one...

Wavy Scarf
Shhhh! This is for Mum but I wanted to show it to you and my Thursday ladies first.
By knitting part the way across a number of rows you end up with this delightful wavy effect.
I have enough yarn to make one for myself too (it's Zhivago originally bought to make a sideways knitted vest that I pulled out three - three! - times - so I'm sooo pleased I have finally found a good use for it...).

Shawl Finished
Remember the shawl I was knitting? It is now F.I.N.I.S.H.ed - I sewed up the seam last night and worked in all the ends. (The new owner will have to dampen it a bit and pin the points so that they don't curl under as you can see they do in this photo.)
Ta-da!!!
The points are supposed to be like this -
It will be going to its new owner later today...

Knitting
I pulled this knitting project from my "to do" basket a couple of days ago and have been working on it madly since then - remember, this is the year of the F.I.N.I.S.H. It's going to be a baby shawl. I promised to knit it for a friend waiting for her grandchild to arrive. Ahem - that child is now one! Luckily Sue has another grandchild due. I'm up to the lacy edging, not much more to do now...

Stitches and Craft Show - Brisbane
Nothing beats a day at a good show with friends.
Here are Maggie and Sandra looking bright and perky (note the HUGE knitting sculpture behind them) - Merle is running late!
We had the best time. Arrived at 10am, left about 20 minutes before closing time. It was great to see different ideas -
I found pure wool felt in yummy colours from Winterwood.
I bought a great wrap skirt pattern from ink&spindle.
I fell in love with this vest by Jane of The Fibre Hut (pattern to be published in June).

This is one of the art exhibits.

I was dying to see this dress in real life - just so fabulous!! Made by Jodie.
Even the loos had a fabric theme!

- craft bars - belly up to the bar and try something new like knitting, stitching etc
- incubator - the chance to see some cool new designers and their products
- sculptures/art - funky and interesting art to inspire
