Signal Box

I've admired this box for a some time.  Not long ago I found out it was designed and painted by a friend - great job Leonie!

Thread Holder

When I've got a cross stitch with lots of different coloured threads, I keep each in a separate plastic zip lock baggie.  I usually safety pin the baggies together, but I thought I'd do something fancy for a change....

Sewing caddies

Two more caddies for the cause - they will be filled with bits and pieces and go to ladies who have lost possessions in the flood.  The pattern came from the sidebar here

Thimbles

I finally have somewhere to display my thimble collection

Murwillumbah Trip

Last Saturday I drove to Murwillumbah, accompanied by The Cat Empire on the CD.  The Tweed was rather brown, of course
But there is green everywhere else.  Mt Warning dominates the landscape
I went to the Art Gallery (which is on land donated by Doug Anthony).  The building captures the natural views
There is artwork on the lawn outside
The orientation map has some interesting place names

Sewing Bee

It was a nice turnout for the sewing bee last Thursday - I finished one caddy - despite mis-reading the directions and having to cut more pieces out on the day.
Here are pics of my first caddy
Having these helped

Congratulations!

Congratulations Baukje from France - you have won my quilt!  I will email you and confirm details.
Thanks everyone for your bids.  Everything we can do helps.

Calling Brissy Sewers

Now that's sew-ers, in case you were wondering!!!
If you are itching to help, and are free this Thursday, and can get to Cleveland, you can join in the caddy sewing bee there.
Joy from Joypatch has designed a caddy that will be filled with bits and pieces to bring some cheer to sewing ladies who have been affected by the floods.
9am to 2-ish.
More details on Joy's blog.
If you can't make it, you can still help by donating $5 to the Premier's Flood Appeal and get the caddy pattern in return.

Queensland Floods

Like everyone else, I've been glued to the TV watching the images and trying to take it all in.  I'm not personally affected, but we have all been touched, and we all want to do something.  Thanks to Toni of make it perfect, I can do a little bit.

I am auctioning this wonderful quilt I completed last year.  It is hand stitched in blue, machine quilted by me from a pattern in an Australian magazine.  I've called my version "Blue Angels".  It's approximately 52.5 inches square.  The first two shots are overall views.  Then I've taken closeups of each angel.
You can see I've quilted some meandering leaves along the sashing.

How this auction works:
1.  Bidding will start at $50 (Australian).
2.  You can place a bid by leaving a comment on this blog post with your bid amount and email address.  Please make sure that your bid is higher than the previous bidder.
3.  Your bid must be in whole dollar increments.
4.  This auction is open to everyone, however $35 will be charged for International addresses.  Postage is FREE for Australian residents.
5.  The auction begins NOW and will END at midnight on Monday 24th January 2011 (Brisbane time).
6.  At the close of the auction, I will contact the winner (please make sure your bid comment includes your email address).  The winner will pay the winning amount directly into the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal and send me proof of payment via email.  Once proof of payment has been received, I will post your quilt to you.
7.  Thankyou for participating and happy bidding!

Tablerunner

I found a pattern for a Christmas tablerunner towards the end of 2009 here (of course I adapted it!) and just HAD to have the fabric - Figgy Pudding by Moda.  I bought a honeybun roll and set to - but the project languished until last week when I finished it - ta da!!!

Notepad

I'm a sucker for interesting stationery, and LOVE pears, so

like strawberry jam marmalade.

More Spring Cleaning

I know I know - it's summer, but I caught the bug late.  I've had my underwear in a tiny drawer in my bedside table forever, and the other day I had an aha moment and moved everything to drawers in the wardrobe.  One
 goes to three...
I used some wrapping paper to line the drawers...

Pantry Spring Cleaning

As people come and go I keep finding things in my pantry that I don't use.  The peanut butter was sitting there, so I added some choc chips and made the most delicious cookies.  The yield is supposed to be around 50, but they really should allow for some of the dough being tested....once or twice....for quality control purposes you understand...

Scquilters Logo

I've been a member of the scquilters yahoo group since 2001.  When I first came back to Australia it was a wonderful online quilting community that helped me get back into the swing of all things quilting.  I've had this schematic for the logo for some time and the other day as I was tidying and sorting I thought "now or never".  I decided it was now - so here's the drawing
and here's my rendition

Redbubble is an online art community.  I am lucky enough to know some artists there and ordered postcards of their art.

The first selection is by Mel -more here.
