Leaf

Saturday was a "soft day" as the Irish would say.  The falling droplets were so gentle that you could barely call it rain at all.  But they brightened the colours of nature - such as this leaf on the ground..

I've passed this park a number of times, but never noticed the bulbous boab trees before.

Boonah

Late Friday I headed to Boonah for another Getaway Girls Weekend.  When I arrived, the others were just finishing their dinner, and someone had kept a serving warm for me - lovely!
I didn't do much that evening, but Saturday morning I went shopping at Maynards and found the perfect white on white fabric to finish a quilt top.

As usual on Saturday night we went out for dinner - the Dougandan Pub is just outside of town and has a great menu

I had the seafood basket which was really yummy.
On Sunday morning I went for a walk.  I would love to capture the rainbow in a dewdrop - but this will have to do

Nature

Bribie Lunch

Bribie Island is about an hour's drive north of where I live.  I rarely go there, but had a delightful few hours there yesterday (Sunday).  First of all, lunch at Blue Anchorage, overlooking the water.  Seafood pasta

Then a trip to Buckley's Hole Conservation Park.  In this small area (87.7 hectares) 270 different bird species have been noted.  On the way to the bird hide we saw a bat - sooo cute!

 and a bigger bird was swanning around in the water

 From Banksia Beach you can see dugongs.  None there yesterday, but spectacular views across to the Glasshouse Mountains

Apparently the dugongs love this seaweed.

Remember the two leaves I photographed at Neurum Creek?  Well I just found another one I picked up there -

I love the lines that go along the LENGTH of the leaf!

Camping At Neurum Creek

Nola and I went camping over the weekend at Neurum Creek which is past Woodford.  With all the rain and drizzle and mist, the area is bright green and lush at the moment.

This was my first attempt at putting up a tent by myself - here is proof that I did it!!

The moon was super super bright -

 

and there was lantana EVERYWHERE

 

King Island

Yesterday afternoon I walked to King Island which is accessible from Wellington Point during low tide.  It's an easy walk across and lots of people, young and old, were out and about enjoying the walk too.

The coral had interesting striations - so much better in real life but here's an attempt to capture the detail via photo...

 

Beauty is Everywhere

I found this leaf on the ground yesterday.  Symmetry, shading, line (outline and vein tracery), colour, shape, texture - all the elements of a beautiful work of art.

Dragonfly

As I was sitting doing my posts today, I saw this dragonfly. This is the best shot I could get of it before it flew off. I hope there is good portent in seeing a dragonfly on New Year's Eve??

Ugh!

I am not squeamish about cleaning out the filter basket - bugs and spiders don't worry me. Today though - ugh!!! - I felt it before I saw it - a cane toad.

I may be more cautious in future....

Shape

I don't have a favourite colour, but I definitely have a favourite shape...
