I do like finding things in op shops and places like that - at the Rubbish Removers on the weekend I scored some great stuff - for almost no money. A full deck of playing cards for $1 that I'll turn into business/calling cards for my trip. The backs are all the same - and a bit too kitsch for my liking, so that's where my name will go...
and on the other side each card has a unique Aussie picture - all of places except for the jokers, Mr Koala and Mr Kangaroo.
I also picked up a great cookbook (that I will NOT be using by the way).
First published in 1952, this is a re-issue. Here's a sample recipe (warning, not for the squeamish)

She Was Right
When I picked out a top I liked from the "Fill a bag for $1" rack at Boonah the other day, the woman next to me said "That's still got its tag on - it's new!". I looked at the tag this morning...

They Work!
Remember yesterday's post with my $2 tea light treasures? They work! I think they're supposed to be like this -
but I like them better like this -

Thrifting
I finished work early and stopped at the EBCC Thrift Store on Vulture Street the other day. There were no prices, so I picked out a couple of things and went to the counter. Is 50c each OK? the volunteer asked. Yep!!
And how about $3.50 for a brand new fondue set? Oooh, I think so....

Thrifting
I was in West End last week and there are 2 good op shops/thrift stores there. I found an interesting necklace in one -
and a new Jag bag in the other -
watermelon pink, and may I say, it is always worth asking if they can do a better price...
The week before I was on the north side and found this thermos
It's all metal, no dramas about the glass breaking, plus it has a great feature - you don't have to unscrew the stopper to get at the liquid, just press the "open" button to pour.
How cool (or hot) is that???

Zips
While at the Boonah Getaway Girls retreat on the weekend I snuck out to visit a new op shop - and found a huge bag full of zips - I spotted some interesting old metal ones I want to use for crafty endeavours. I picked off all the stray threads and then soaked them yesterday ready for playing...
