Bulimba

On Friday morning I checked out a community choir I'm thinking of joining and afterwards strolled down the main street of Bulimba.  I found a popup shop

a Lifeline shop

 FULL of books - where I bought a wonderful postcard book of tenugui designs from the Edo period

as well as a potato box.

Annie's Second Hand Shop was stacked - and I mean stacked - with stuff - a welcome change from the scrupulously merchandised homeware and clothing shops elsewhere on Oxford Street...

Of course, there are always surprises

 

 

and then it was time for some refreshment

and lunch.

Townsville Sunday

I went to Cotters Market in town (the main thing of note were the stuffed cane toads - some holding miniature bottles of Bundy - eeewww) and then took a bus to the Willows shopping centre - this was where it was all happening.  The obligatory Great Australian Ice Creamery Sundae - The Olgas

Notice there are NO BLANKETS on the bed - that's how wonderfully warm it was - ahhhh!!!  :-)

Gradation Inspiration

I've passed this Garden City building countless times and each time I think how great a quilt would look with the gradations just like this -

I've taken plenty of photos of decorated signal boxes, so when I saw this naked one the other day I thought I would capture it in its original beauty.  Only when I was uploading the photo did I notice the little "joke" in the wording...

GTG Saturday

Last Saturday a group of us "Broads" met near the GOMA.

The cafe had interesting tabletops

Show and tell - Kathryn designed a sample portfolio that inspired us all

She also had a Toran to show

Mel put together a collage of her New York photos printed on fabric -

check out the fabulous Roy Lichtenstein-inspired border fabric she bought on her US trip

She also completed a lovely piece that she started in a workshop

Catching Up
